Annual World Rugby Pacific Four Series to kick-off in 2021 with Canada and USA competing and Australia and New Zealand to join from 2022 . World Rugby has announced details of a new cross-regional annual international competition titled, Pacific Four Series, that will bring together some of the world’s top women’s teams. Contested by four of the world’s top teams – Australia, Canada, New Zealand and USA – the Pacific Four Series will act as one of the principle annual qualification routes for the top tier of WXV, with the top three-placed teams competing in WXV 1 and the fourth-placed team competing in WXV 2 from 2023 onwards. With the global pandemic continuing to cause the global sporting community challenges, the World Rugby-funded competition will soft launch in 2021 with Canada and USA going head-to-head on 1 and 5 November. Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika will join the best Australian and New Zealand rugby sides in a new-look  Super Rugby Pacific competition from 2022. The 12-team competition was rubber stamped on Monday, with the inaugural season to kick off on 18 February next year. The old Super Rugby competition, which also featured teams from South Africa, Argentina, and Japan, has now officially been disbanded – an outcome that would have eventually occurred even without the devastating effects of Covid-19. Australia and New Zealand will retain their five professional franchises for the new Pacific competition. Benji Marshall insists he may play again next season and has not made any decision to end his illustrious 19-year career in Sunday night’s grand final. South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett indicated after the Rabbitohs qualified for the grand final with last Friday night’s defeat of Manly that Marshall was set to bow out in the premiership decider against Penrith. However, the 36-year-old, who will make his second grand final appearance16 seasons after leading Wests Tigers to the 2005 premiership, said he felt like he could continue. In an arid issue with a high mistake include in Townsville, the All Blacks drove 13-11 at half-time and the two sides exchanged punishments during that time half until Barrett handled the executioner blow with two minutes remaining. Last year’s runners-up avenged their 2020 grand final loss to the Storm with the hard-fought victory at Lang Park to set up a showdown with South Sydney. The long anticipated  100th test match between the All Blacks and Springboks is upon us. It’s in Townsville, Queensland instead of Dunedin, New Zealand, owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The All Blacks have been playing some very good rugby in whitewashing the Wallabies and Pumas. But the World Champion Springboks have stumbled towards the fixtures against the All Blacks on the back of consecutive losses to the Wallabies, the second of which was a humbling defeat.
