Simon Zebo is back in an Ireland squad for the first time since 2017 as part of a 38-strong panel for the Autumn Nations Series. The versatile Munster back is set to make his playing comeback in the Dublin games against Japan, New Zealand and Argentina next month. Ulster pair Nathan Doak and Jacob Stockdale miss out but forward Iain Henderson is included. The squad includes uncapped Leinster pair Dan Sheehan and Ciaran Frawley. Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika will join the best Australian and New Zealand rugby sides in a new-look  Super Rugby Pacific competition from 2022. The 12-team competition was rubber stamped on Monday, with the inaugural season to kick off on 18 February next year. The old Super Rugby competition, which also featured teams from South Africa, Argentina, and Japan, has now officially been disbanded – an outcome that would have eventually occurred even without the devastating effects of Covid-19. Australia and New Zealand will retain their five professional franchises for the new Pacific competition. The Western Force had been axed from Super Rugby in 2017, but they were brought back into the fold for Super Rugby AU and also the trans-Tasman Super Rugby competition once Covid hit. Luke Pearce will ref the 100th Test between the Springboks and All Blacks in Townsville on 25 September. World Rugby on Thursday affirmed the match official arrangements for the rest of the 2021 Rugby Championship, which will be facilitated by Australia. The South Sydney Rabbitohs have been allowed to bring a player from outside of their 21-man crew in front of Saturday evening’s passing last against the Penrith Panthers. Winger Taane Milne was not named in South Sydney’s crew on Tuesday, however his name showed up in the authority group list on Friday evening.
