The development follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the JRFU and New Zealand Rugby in May of this year, and it follows the confirmation that the All Blacks will also tour Japan to face the Brave Blossoms in October 2024. Under the terms of the MOU, matches between the two countries will happen more often at all competitive levels. On June 29 and July 6, there will be two non-capped matches between the Japan XV and the Māori All Blacks. There have been three prior meetings between Japan and the Māori All Blacks with the most recent one being during the visitors’ two-match trip to Japan in 2014. The two parties had previously met in 2008 for the first time in New Zealand. We are excited to announce the Māori All Blacks’ visit for the next season, which will take place in the autumn, with the recent revelation that the Brave Blossoms will welcome the All Blacks XV, who are presently in Japan. One of the main elements of our plan to increase the competitiveness

It was confirmed today that Wallabies fly-half Carter Gordon will switch from rugby union to rugby league due to the Melbourne Rebels’ financial crisis. The playmaker, 23, played in the team’s last-ever game last weekend as they were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Super Rugby Pacific playoffs. After 14 years of involvement, the team soon announced their removal from the league. Gordon has chosen to join the Gold Coast Titans in the NRL, following in the footsteps of players like Mark Nawaqanitawase, despite having choices available to him. Titans Coach Des Hasler expressed his excitement to have Gordon join the team in a statement issued by his new team. Wallabies Rugby Carter has demonstrated strong competition in rugby, having represented his nation and participated in the World Cup. However, what really struck me was his willingness to push himself and accept the challenge of learning a new code.He is a confident player with skill. The 23-year-old says he can’t wait to

2024 Super Rugby Pacific Semi Final Blues face to Brumbies in Eden Park

The Blues are a professional rugby union side from New Zealand that are located in Auckland and compete in the Super Rugby league. From 1996 to 1999, they were known as the Auckland Blues. The NZRU founded the Blues, along with the other four Super Rugby clubs in New Zealand, in 1996. One of the most successful teams in Super Rugby history, the Blues finished as finals in 1998 and 2022 and semi-finalists in 2007, 2011, and 2023. They also won the championship in its first two seasons, 1996 and 1997, and again in 2003. In addition, the squad competed in a Trans Tasman competition in 2021. The Australian professional rugby union side, the ACT Brumbies, was founded in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), and was simply known as the Brumbies from 2005 to 2022. The team plays Super Rugby and gets its name from the wild horses that live in the outskirts of the capital. Together with the Far South Coast and Southern Inland areas of New South Wales (NSW), the team represents the AC

The Rough lesson that the Blues gave the Brumbies during their most recent game

Image
The Brumbies, who have not defeated the Blues at Australia’s iconic rugby graveyard since 2013, will be visiting Eden Park after losing their most recent match, 46-7, to the Aucklanders in April. In the Brumbies’ worst-ever loss to the Blues, coach Stephen Larkham bemoaned the team’s lack of physicality. Alaalatoa understands his team needs to prevail physically in order to have any chance of reversing the situation. And after winning seven straight games after that round-10 lesson, he is sure they can. The next week, the Brumbies defeated the Hurricanes, who were atop the table. During that run, they also defeated the Crusaders, the reigning champions, and the Highlanders, a Kiwi team. Alaalatoa is certain that the Brumbies can make history if they can physically equal the Blues, despite the fact that no Australian team has ever won a finals match in New Zealand. “Playing in the finals and experiencing what it’s like to play at Eden Park was probably the first time the boys were

Italy will play the All Blacks at Juventus home ground

Image
The Autumn Nations Series this year will pit the Azzurri against the All Blacks at Juventus’ home stadium, according to the FIR.  The fact that the game is taking place at a location rich in Italian history and significance is evidence of rugby’s rising stature and ascent in that nation. With several high-profile football matches held there and its association with greats like Alessandro del Piero and Zinedine Zidane, it has transformed into a sports temple. Global superstars in music and entertainment have also performed at the stadium, drawing crowds inside to see performances by Madonna, U2, and Coldplay. It is envisaged that rugby’s entry into this arena would help the sport become more well-known in Italy and become more interwoven into the country’s larger sporting and cultural landscape. Italian rugby has seen a growth in grassroots involvement over the past few years, accompanied by more successful age-grade teams. The senior squad is starting to see rewards from their effo

Hurricanes Nail Home Super Rugby Quarterfinal Against Highlanders

Image
The Hurricanes finished the Super Rugby Pacific regular season with a 41-14 victory in Wellington with to three tries to winger Salesi Rayasi. They entered the playoffs with a 1-0 lead thanks to their victory, but the Blues may join them if they defeat the Chiefs at Eden Park and earn extra points as well. The Hurricanes put on a convincing display, winning seven tries to two, and securing a home quarterfinal for the following weekend. They had to face a “tough, resilient, gritty” Highlanders team in addition to whirling, gusting winds that made kicking and long passes challenging, but Jordie Barrett, who made key crucial plays in the middle, said they were motivated to close off the regular season strong. “The thing we spoke about during the week was that over the last few seasons all we wanted was a home quarterfinal and I guess the great thing was that it was in our control tonight, and we managed to get a bonus point win, so again it’s out of our control now,” he stated to Sk
