Currie Cup Final Live – Griquas vs Pumas Rugby ( the most momentous finals in the history )

The 2022 Currie Cup Final will be crowned in Kimberley on Saturday, 25 June when Griquas host the Pumas in one of the most momentous finals in the history of the competition. Griquas will host the Pumas at Windhoek Draught Park in Kimberley on Saturday in a historic Currie Cup final.

The Currie Cup final at Windhoek Draught Park will kick off at 15:00.

The Griquas recorded the first win of their Currie Cup campaign. They defeated the Pumas 41-20 at the Tafel Lager Park in Kimberley.

Searching for their first win of the competition, following losses to the Sharks and the Cheetahs, it was the home side that was first on the scoreboard with a penalty.

But it was the Pumas who dotted down the first five points of the match, powering past the Griquas defence.

The Griquas replied a short while later, capitalising on a line-out, the Kimberley outfit took the lead with penalty try. They extended their advantage just before the interval as Alandre van Rooyen charged over the line after another successful line-out on their opponents 22.

The Griquas had a seven-point cushion going into half-time, leading 21-13.

The hosts extended their lead with two more penalties early in the second half. The Pumas, who defeated the Lions 50-9 last in their opening match of the tournament, also demonstrated their prowess from a set piece as Simon Raw charged over, for their third try.

Munier Hartzenberg put the Griquas further ahead dashing past the Pumas defence for their third try.

Adding salt to the Pumas wounds Zander du Plessis converted a penalty, splitting the uprights from his 10-meter mark. And that’s where it ended in Kimberley, with the home side sealing a 41-20 victory.
