In the Western Force’s Super Rugby Pacific season opener against the Hurricanes at HBF Park on Friday night, five starting will be making their Club debuts.

Tom Franklin, Will Harris, Nic White, Ben Donaldson, Harry Potter, and other off-season additions will receive their first caps for the Force after being included in the XV.

Super Rugby is back for 2024, with a fresh appearance and a focus to running rugby. The second of our New Zealand team previews evaluates last year’s quarterfinalists, the Hurricanes.

Numerous teams hoping to establish themselves will be after them as the Australian teams attempt to make history by winning their first title in the new 12-team format.

The 12 teams in the 2024 draw will play 14 regular season games, 11 of which will be round-robin games and 3 more will be rivalry matches. An eight-team playoff series will follow the regular season games.

Because of head injury rules, Michael Wells and White will captain the team in lieu of Force captain Jeremy Williams.

As part of a doubleheader, the Force women will play Tokyo Sankyu Phoenix in a pre-season trial match starting at 4:30 p.m.

Every game of the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific competition will be live and ad-free on Stan Sport.

Along with this, one game per week on Saturday night will be shown live across the Channel Nine network.

The Junior Springboks will kick off the U20 Rugby Championship against All Blacks on Thursday, 2 May at 9am (South Africa time).  The U20 Rugby will see the up-and-coming stars of Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa do battle in a first of its kind between the four southern hemisphere nations.
