Wales bidding to end 68-year wait to beat All Blacks

The chances on Wales finishing their 68-year hang tight for a success against New Zealand in Cardiff on Saturday are thin, with the lead trainer, Wayne Pivac, missing a whole side due to wounds and player inaccessibility. One needs to return to 1953 for the last Welsh triumph against the might of the All Blacks and, as he plans to mentor against the place where there is his introduction to the world, Pivac is battling with one hand tied behind his back. Rugby : Ireland recall Zebo for November series

The 31-year-old Zebo left Paris-based Racing 92 ahead of the current European campaign to rejoin Irish province Munster on a one-year contract. Having been left out of Ireland’s pre-season while he took part in the French Top 14 play-offs, Zebo has been recalled for next month’s trio of Tests at Lansdowne Road. Zebo, who has won 35 Ireland caps, effectively went into international exile when he joined Racing 92 from Munster in 2018 as the Irish Rugby Football Union generally avoids considering overseas-based players for selection.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Irish Rugby (@irishrugby) Meanwhile Ireland captain Johnny Sexton, who also missed the victories over Japan and the United States in July, has returned to the squad and the gifted fly-half could win his 100th cap for his country against the Japanese on November 6. The 1874 Cup : All Blacks 104 USA 14 Ugly is the only way to describe the record thrashing the All Blacks handed the United States on Sunday morning at FedEx Field in Maryland. A bungle of amazing magnitude was anticipated, and that is actually what unfolded as the All Blacks ran in 16 attempts to record their biggest success over the USA, effectively obscuring the 74-6 edge the last time these groups met in Chicago in 2014. TJ Perenara’s last attempt broke the century with the last play to provide the All Blacks with their third most noteworthy count ever behind just the 108 they scored against Portugal at the 2007 World Cup, and the 145-17 defeat of Japan in 1995. In July this year the All Blacks indented the 102-0 triumph over a vigorously exhausted Tongan side at Mt Smart Stadium – a match that did little for one or the other group. This test falls in a similar classification. Read more – All Blacks v Italy rugby on November 06 View this post on Instagra

In their final defence of the season, the Magpies got the better of Waikato in a physical and frantic encounter in Napier, with the hosts outlasting the challengers to take a 41-14 win. A second half onslaught from the hosts saw the score line blow out after Waikato got the better of the first half, with the visitors finding themselves on the wrong end of a slew of penalties and, having emptied their bench earlier in the half, fatigue setting in. Before the match even started, Waikato were having troubles as first five-eighth Fletcher Smith pulled up with an injury in warm ups and instead moved to the bench. Then, in the first play of the game, Waikato halfback Xavier Rowe was injured after taking a heavy hit from Hawke’s Bay winger Jonah Lowe. The first play of the game really set the tone for the night. Hawke’s Bay No10 Lincoln McClutchie put up a floating kick-off, allowing time for the chaser to get there as it landed. Roe was the unfortunate one to be underneath it, and was hi

THERE WERE MORE signs of his attacking skills on Friday night but then Will Addison was cut down in luckless fashion again. The Ulster fullback was in clear agony before being stretchered off following a very unfortunate incident in which his planted leg was hit by a Lions player swinging out of a tackle on one of Addison’s Ulster team-mates. The 29-year-old played just three times last season due to back and hamstring issues and is now facing another spell on the sidelines, as discussed on today’s episode of  The42 Rugby Weekly Extra –  an analysis podcast available to members of The42 every Monday. Eoin Toolan and Murray Kinsella spoke about the signs of quality that five-times-capped Ireland international Addison had shown on Friday before his injury, noting how his skillset could have added to Andy Farrell’s squad. Murray:  “Unfortunately, Ireland’s November squad is not going to include Will Addison. Looks like a leg break, it was a horrific impact and incredibly unlucky just
